It seems a new edition of Bloodlust called Bloodlust Metal may be published before summer. My main curiosity, and what I will focus on when reading reviews. I'm certainly interested, but at the same time, since I have a PDF copy of. Someone referred to the system as 'Jacquou le Croquant RPG', i.e.

LaurenNo, and I was really pleased by this. The kids were so young, it would have felt out of place.

How the books deal with it varies, but magic schools and a trio of friends are classic tropes.
Personally I did not feel this was a ripoff of HP. I've read books that had far more in common with HP than this (and the two next books), but as long as they are well-written they can all be enjoyed in their own way.
Want something that reminds more of HP than this? Read the first Hex Hall book. ;)(less)

First off, the book features kids using magic to manipulate the 'elements'- fire, wind, water, earth, and chaos- so it's not, like, old ladies in black cloaks chanting and stirring cauldrons. Second, the content is really PG, so if your parents wanted to prevent you from reading the book due to age-inappropriate content, it should be pretty easy to convince them to allow you to read the book. There are a few scenes with monsters in them, but they aren't super intense or gory, and the book is not explicit. I'd recommend it for ages 9-14, maybe 8, depending on reading level.(less)
